This used to be my job. If you are a single parent not living with adults or disowned, you can apply. Bring your birth certificate, social security card, income pay stubs, bank statements, all baby's info and don't lie.

Apply. Also look into teen mom programs. Some cities have people donate diapers, wipes, formula, baby food, stuff like that. And then the teen mom can get stuff from there. 
Also if you need gear go on Facebook free stuff sites and say your problem. You may have a bunch of people help out with stuff they don't need anymore. Just be careful and don't go anywhere alone

Depends on state's policy. Since I live with my parents, I am not allowed to get food stamps, which sucks because at the initial interview they didn't ask and I got them. They were a lifesaver for the few months I had them, and I spent then on appropriate things....occasionally I would buy something sweet and unhealthy though :)
