First period after birth?

Has any April mama had their period yet? When is it supposed to come along? Albie is 5 weeks old and I stopped bleeding after birth around 3 weeks. I see the doc next week and want to discuss contraception but would like to have my first period first before going back on it.

It depends on if you're breastfeeding or not. If you're not .. I'd expect it within a few weeks. If you are .. it possible (depending on frequency of nursing) to go the whole first year without one.

Each woman is different. I had no discharge at all after 10 days, then at 4 weeks PP got my period. I'm EBF, so it made no difference to my body.

I have a friend whose baby is almost six months old and she still has not had her period. Every body is different!

I just got my first period this past Saturday and my son just turned 6wks and it's been on super heavy flow since it started. Went to see my ob/gyn today for my pre-op app for my surgery next week to get my tubes tied and he said that if I continue to bleed really heavy by Friday to call him because me and my boy almost died when in labor. My son because his heart rate dropped really low so I got a emergency c section and me because I wouldn't stop bleeding. I lost over 2 pints of blood. Very scary...... And now I'm bleeding really bad again and it's barely starting to clot. I'm thinking if it's still like this tomorrow I'm gonna call him or go to the emergency room. It's starting to scare me. I've never bleed like this ever and there's no signs of it slowing down or stopping when any other time it's just about over by the forth day and with my first child I bleed just like a normal period. It's reallt got me worried
