How old was your child when they could say the alphabet?

Just wondering how old your child/children was/were when they could say the alphabet. I feel like my child might be a bit behind, she's nearly 4 and can't get it.
She goes to school next year, should I be concerned?

My first son could easily say it at 2.

My second son is 4. He's not quite there yet and messes it up more often than not. He's a different kid. I'm not stressing it. We make it fun and point at the letters on his wall and sing it every day. He will get it.

Being in preschool may help too. Try and make it fun and keep working at it. Every kid catches on at their own pace

At two,  but knowing the alphabet song is not important, it's just repetitive. Knowing how to recognize letters and thier sounds is what they need to strive to learn

I had a really tough time learning the alphabet I remember it was such a major thing they put me in a special class for kids falling behind, but that class taught me so many learning skills that everything started clicking faster for me after I did learn it and was in t.a.g and honors classes all until high school. Some kids just learn differently. Maybe try a different approach to helping the child learn that isn't just repetition.

My son could say it at 2-3 but he is just turned 6 at the end of his kindergarten year this year and he is behind because he doesn't recognize about 10 letters. He knows them but just can't remember which letter is which, if I could do it agin I would have put him in another year of preschool or transitional kindergarten before because now the teacher has suggested I hold him back! But he is so smart and a math wizard! I feeel like keeping him back wouldn't help and want to give him a chance in the first grade and moving forward with his education, if you feel as if she is already behind maybe give her some time to catch up an extra year of other schooling before kindergarten? It's all up to you, also work with her more with it they will pick up quick with 1 on 1

My daughter had them memorized around 18 months, but she is having trouble recognizing them out of order. Learning a song and knowing all the letters and numbers are different things.

My son started saying them when he was nearing his 3rd birthday.  Now he's got them down perfect and he's nearly 3 1/2; however, he did have help from his cousin who is in PreK.  I think that helped him a lot because we really didn't work with him that much.   With that being said ALL children learn at different rates.   The most important thing is they are learning, no matter how long it takes.   Just my 2 cents.

My daughter could say it super early but having worked in a school, all kids learn at different paces, so don't worry. In fact, my daughters school said they only really wanted them to be able to do life skills like go to the toilet, put on their clothes etc. 
However, with my daughter we listened to a lot of alaohent varient songs on YouTube, sang it as a lullaby, had an annoying alphabet bus that would also sing it and say the letter when you pressed it, had alphabet cards with animals we played games with.

I would try and find games and resources to help your child learn the alphabet. If you're conserned about her being in kindergarten next year maybe consider going in kindergarten a year later. I would also talk to the kindergarten teachers at the school she will be going to. Sit in a meeting with the teacher and express your concerns. That teacher might be able to point you in the direction to get her ready for kindergarten. They start reading in kindergarten now, without knowing the alphabet, it will be a harder time having letter sense and that can affect reading development.

Look at Pinterest for resources on letter sense and letter development. Work on it all summer and just keep reading and pointing out letters. Play games in the car where you have to find letters on signs in public places or on the way to those places.
