maternity leave

So my current job doesn't have built in sick days or maternity leave. Ladies what did you do at a job without those types of benefits? How long did you take off? I basically need to stay so my baby and I have health insurance since I can't be put on my husband's insurance. I've been here three years. The job isn't very high paying. So daycare would just about equal my salary for 9 months. I'm so stressed out. It's also a 1.5 commute round trip. So hard to find another job right now. Is a new employer going to hire a pregnant lady? And chances are even if that's higher paying I won't have maternity leave at a new job either. So do I stay home? Ah! So many things to think of. Do I stay home and buy health insurance? If the new health care system goes into place I've got a preexisting condition-pregnancy! Ah!! Help!!
