Nocturnal newborn?

Are newborns typically sleeping during the day and active during night? When does that usually ends?

For some yes. My doctor says its because the baby gets used to you being up and moving during the day while inside you, your movements rock them to sleep during the day,  then at night when you stop moving they become really active... They get into a pattern or schedule with this and sometimes it takes a while for them to adjust after birth... Every baby is different, some may take a week to adjust and others may take a few months.
