road trip?!

Question

Has anyone had to road trip with your babies yet! In the end of June my LO will be 6 months, and we are driving from CO to TX, 16 hours-_- going to stop for the night at a hotel, I already have a car bottle warmer. But any other tips to make the trip easier with a 6 month old?

We took a 6 hour trip at 3 and a half months but we drove at night time, I did his normal bedtime routine, got him drowsy and him straight in the car seat. He woke up one time about an hour out and I just have him the bottle while in the car seat and he fell immediately back to sleep. Any trips we do we will continue to drive at his bedtime

We did a 12 hour ride from Rhode Island to Columbus. He was good for a little while but we had to stop rather frequently especially cause I'm breastfeeding so I can't just give him a bottle while we drive. Just expect to have to stop often so you aren't disappointed! And make sure your LO has time to stretch out. I assume it must get uncomfortable after a while!

We road tripped 10 hours and our little guy was awesome. Only stopped once to stretch out.

We left really early in the morning so he slept for the first half and then I hopped into the back and entertained/fed him in the car seat. It was actually really easy.

We did another 4 hour trip (8 hours in 1 day) and he didn't get fussy until the last 20 minutes. Try and bring a new toy so when they get fussy you can give them something new to explore.

We did a 4 hour trip during the day so nothing as long   stopped at 2 hours to stretch, he was cranky at 3.5 hours. Trip back better but stopped for a few min to stretch about every 1.5 hours.

We took a 5 hour trip when my son just turned 4 months. Not nearly as long, but my main recommendation is to not have high expectations for how it will go or how you think it should go. If your expectations are realistic it makes it easier. I didn't for the 5 hour trip there and was stressed. But the drive home was much better!

Just keep an open mind remember is a lot for a baby to be in the car that long :)

We are making a 9 hour trip in July.  Not nearly as long but not look big forward to it.
