What are your thoughts on eating placenta?

Someone asked me if I will eat my placenta when my baby is born, I was like WTF hell no, I understand that some famous people have said they done that but honestly to me is gross. What are your opinions on this? To me is a big no!

Totally bizarre and cannablistic. We live on a farm and people always told me "well animals do it". I have watched over 50 of my cows give birth and not a single one has eaten the god damn placenta. Beyond weird

Nope. With my daughter we donated it to the local university for studies. My placenta started dying at 36 weeks so we really loved knowing it was going for research. Right after I delivered it it was placed into a cooler and off it went.

My idiot MIL told me to eat my nephew's after my SIL gave birth to give us "good luck". We never told her we were even trying to conceive and it was none of her. Usiness. Plus, hell no. Now I'm pregnant and I did not eat the placenta, thank you very much.

I gave birth about 3 weeks ago. I had my placenta encapsulated. It's been a big help so far I suffer from depression and anxiety it has helped me with it. I don't even have to take antidepressants which aren't really good for you. I also have some of my placenta in an oil I use it for my nipples since I breastfeed it's been the biggest help. It has other benefits like lots of iron during delivery you lose a lot of blood and iron so it helps with that as well.

I'm getting mine encapsulated so essentially I'll get consuming it but it will be in pill form.

I've heard there are services that will dry it and powder it, and package into gel capsules. Even this way I can imagine it!

I've never heard of someone *eating* it, but I've known people to get it made into capsules and taking the capsules.  I heard it helps prevent postpartum depression.

Not for me, though.
