Nurses?

Question

I am a nurse that works 12 hour shifts. My schedule rotates so sometimes I work days and sometimes nights. Anyone else a nurse out there? How do you get through your shift?

I am not a nurse or even a 12 hr worker...but I had to comment that you ladies are my heroes. I don't know how you do it, even not pregnant.  You rock!!

I'm a L&D nurse and work 12 hr shifts also. So far it's been fine. I work day shift. I can't imagine going back and forth. Yuck!!

I'm a nurse and whew! I do still do caffeine in the mornings but around 1400 I wish I could crawl up in the linen cart and take a nap! Once I sit down at home, I literally fall asleep within minutes! I'm not sure how I'm going to make it the whole 9 months on 12 hr shifts. 😴😴

I'm an EMT in the ER. I have a scoop of spark with water in the am and that lasts until lunch. Then I suffer until the end of my 12 hrs. I get home and crash. I Only have 1/2 hr break so needless to say it's a rough one. Hang in there !

I'm an LPN at a nursing home and work hrs ALL over the dang place...mornings...overnights...pm shifts....little bit of both sometimes due to staffing shortages! I can work anywhere from 8hrs to 14-15hrs depending how the day goes. I'm also a full time student finishing my BSN for my RN! Working all these crazy shifts and trying to stay awake during classes are brutal!! but I really try to take naps as often as I can and fit my homework where I can! And to add a baby to that?! I'll have my hands full 😍

I'm not a nurse but I work 24 hour pharmacy retail. So I'll get called in for an overnight shift at 4-5 hours notice and working 12-16 hour days on average. Pregnant or not it is ROUGH!

I'm an RN and am required to work half days and half nights. I'm only 8 weeks but have been very sick. I had to give in to zofran to make it through the 12 hours. We sort of self schedule which is nice. I only do two days in a row. And I do 4 weeks of days then switch to 4 weeks of nights. Don't know if that will work during pregnancy. But it it's easier for me to be on a more consistent schedule. What has helped me is having small snacks available, juice and ice chips (haven't wanted caffeine at all)  and spearmint lifesaver candies.  Also to help with smells, I but on a mask then a second mask on top with a dap of peppermint oil .  I work on a progressive care unit so no one has questioned me about that.

I am also a nurse I float to medical and progressive units in the hospital. I work full time midnights 12 hour shifts. I used to do 3 in a row but now I can't Im just so exausted and the nausea is so bad I just pray it ends with my second trimester!! I'm struggling just to make it to work 😳

I'm a nurse & I work 12 hour shifts on nights. I think it would be much harder to rotate days & nights. So far I'm doing ok, but I'm sure I'll be relying on caffeine at some point. So far I've been ok without it. I'm hanging in there but I'm sure it's going to get harder.
