Do you ever recycle?

I've wanted to recycle but there are like no recycle bins in my town anywhere, or at least from what I've seen. So I just wind up throwing out everything instead of recycling it. Does anyone here recycle? Also does your town have plenty of recycle bins that are easy to access?

Yes. Everyone gets a blue recycling bin from the town/city and once a week it gets picked up depending on region. Where I live it's once a week and garbage every other week. Where my boyfriend's parents live in the town over its every two weeks alternating with garbage pick up but they have bigger blue bins. Toronto where I used to live I think alternates as well but they have big blue bins too.

Toronto has big blue bins (recycling), grey for garbage which can either be the same size as recycling bin or smaller and then a green bin for compost. 
  And then where I live in York Region (Newmarket/Aurora) we only have these little dinky recycling bins, a green bin and you supply your own garbage bin or you can put out 2 trash bags.

We have a separate recycling bin and it gets picked up on a different day from trash. Also, in my community, there are places designated to recycle cardboard, electronics, those plastic grocery bags, and even furniture. I have just started a compost in my backyard as well.

I grew up on a farm outside a small town. No trash service. We composted waste food, recycled glass and cans, and burned the rest in the (wood burning) furnace. Dad would have us clean and sort the bottles and cans (also flatten cans) when we washed dishes at night. He had empty 50 pound dog food bags in the basement for holding recycling until it was worth a trip to the recycling center. I continued recycling through college, where recycling bins were available for the dorm rooms, and in every city since. Every place I've lived has some sort of recycling available. We have way more recycling then trash. I'd love to compost but haven't bought a system yet for my apartment. We'd have even less trash then.  Currently we use one medium trash bag a week as a household of two. I don't expect that to change much once baby arrives as I hope to do cloth diapering.

It's really easy to recycle in my country and I'm glad! Most of what we use in our household gets recycled.

There's a facility in the town I went to uni, and my family would save their stuff and I'd bring it with me back to school Sunday night after visiting home on weekends and take it Monday morning to the place. It's been awhile since we've done that and I'm not planning on going back to that school.

I want to but I live in the sticks. I tried to get our garbage service to offer recycling but they refused.

Absolutely!! Most of our trash goes to the recycling bin. Everyone should at least attempt.

We also have the three different bins. Since we're in California we save certain bottles and cans and turn them in to recycling centers bc you can get money back for that.

We need our recycling service to come by at least twice a week because once isn't enough. But we could probably get away with the garbage pickup coming twice a month. We recycle everything. Hopefully we will also compost soon.
