What do you think about Reborn dolls/role playing

Ra
I came across the reborn lifestyle, when I read a story in the local paper.  A local cop broke open a car window to save an infant left in its hot car seat. Of course, when he tried to resuscitate it he realized it was a very realistic doll. The owner said she had lost a baby at one point and now she uses these doll to grieve. She now has 30 of them. When you search #reborn on instagram there is a whole following over these dolls that look beyond real. These dolls can be around $775 each! Some women post their daily life with their baby as a mom of a human baby might. Some shop with, go on outings and treat their reborn like any other mother would. Some mothers even go as far as pretending their are #rebornpregnant once their order has been placed, with ultrasound and baby announments. They update with pregnancy feelings like the baby is high or really kicking. Then when the baby is out for delivery they go into labor. They have pics of their spouses or family members playing along too. What do you think about this?? Are they just having fun? Using roleplaying as therapy? Or in need of help? Also, what makes this role playing different than others such as medieval roleplaying or cosplay? Feel free to search instagram for reborn and see other examples. It's pretty fascinating stuff when you can't sleep at 3 AM. These pictures are all of reborn dolls or accounts.
