After struggling w breastfeeding for 7 weeks (I have 5 years experience from my older 2 children & have never had such a hard time!) My daughter was diagnosed w lower & upper lip ties & her dr wasn't sure about her tongue. It looks fine to me, but I suspect posterior tie. She wouldn't nurse. I attempt at every feeding. She would latch & fuss. Push me away. I started giving her pumped milk in bottle at 3 wks Bc she hadn't gained any weight. She doesn't suck on a bottle properly either. Anyways, about my question. I got a nipple shield & she started nursing!!! Hurts me a little. I can feel milk run down my side sometimes Bc she can't swallow properly either. But I don't hear her swallow much. She has been pooping more often than usual. But I'm so worrried I'm starving her. Anyone w tied baby have easier time w a shield? It is she just using me as pacifier?? I have to wait another week before seeing a specialist to get it clipped :(
