getting mirena iud tomorrow.. anyone have this place?

I am 8 weeks postpartum and exclusively breastfeed. I have 2 kids and I'm good I'm sure I'm done but decided to get the iud because you don't have to take a pill or worry about taking one.  Anyone who has it experience any side effects? Also., freaks me out a bit there's a higher risk of perforation with moms who breastfeed but it's also the most recommended birth control if you do breastfeed besides the mini pill. Anyone have any issues with this?

I used mirena for 10 years and had no problems with it. I had it in while breastfeeding my oldest daughter and can't remember having any issues there. However that was almost 13 years ago...

I had it before getting pregnant. Had it removed, had baby got it put back in. I love it. I have never had to think about birth control. The first time I had it in I had never been pregnant and I cramped for a long time. This time at 6 weeks pp I had no cramping at all.

I had the Mireya after Bub #5. Perfect to start with although my husband said it made me crazy. Had no sex drive whatsoever. After 3yrs I started getting my period for 2 weeks straight. Mirena made me bi polar and have really bad depression and always made my stomach cramp my sister had it as well and it gave her the same symptoms.

Same experience as Mary! My hormones were so out of whack; I will never get the Mirena again. It will be the ParaGard for me. No hormones and no side effects. I had it for 10 years & never should have switched to the Mirena.

I hated it! I got it taken out after only 4 weeks. My doctor recommended it too as I was breastfeeding, it hurt so so bad for me going in, I got it in when baby was 9 weeks but I had a c section so maybe why it hurt more for me? Idk.
I started having bad anxiety and panic attacks after a couple days and I turned into an emotional mess, I was crying all the time and really really sad, over nothing. I was constantly bleeding and I just told the doctor to get it out. I felt normal again 9 days after it was out. I had been on the pill for years before with no problems.

Following! I'm getting it soon too. I had it for three years before I had my son. Now I'm 9 weeks pp and I'm waiting for insurance to approve it.   Before my son, I loved it! No periods or anything. Interested to see how it is this time around.

I had one for 5 years and had no problems! It just depends on your uterus. Cramping for a few days is normal after insertion. If it hurts longer than that, your uterus may be too small. It's definitely the easiest and most effective birth control I've ever used.
