Side effects of epidural?

How many of you that got the epidural still experience back pain long after (or any other side effects)?

I can never get the epidural again.  The CNA didn't put it in my back correctly and the medicine not only went down my spine it went up my spine.  I couldn't breath, I couldn't swallow it was awful, and there was nothing they could do other than let the medicine naturally go away.  It took about 15-20mins.  As soon as they pushed the drug I got a major headache to the point where I couldn't turn my head at all without excruciating pain.  For weeks after I would have terrible back pain and it felt like fluid was running up and down my back.  I'm not saying not to do it, but I rather suffer those labor pains then to have another epidural. And I was in labor for 3 days before the epidural.

The chances of chronic back pain is really low, I can't remember of the top of my head the exact statistic though. I had an epidural 19 months ago, and I'll have a spoke of back pain every 4-5 months that lasts a few days. But honestly, I can't tell if it was the epidural side effect or the fact that I'm constantly bending down and chasing my toddler lol.

My friend's sister and his mother both ended up with chronic back pain. I had no issues nor did anyone else I know.

I had the epidural 19 wks ago and suffer very bad back pain daily. I cant lie down too long it gets agonising. I cant bend down it hurts too bad. Sometimes my legs go tingly like numbish feeling but nuro said it will clear up eventually

My back was really tender in the spot for a long time. And my feet would be tingly and in pain to walk after laying down for awhile. It was weird. That was 1.5 years ago and I don't have those feelings anymore. The epidural was amazing for my pregnancy. I was holding off as long as I could but the pain was too intense I could barely breathe at one point and I was in tears thinking about having an epidural. I really wanted to go natural. But I decided to have one..... it changed my Labor and I was able to enjoy the moment and remember all of it. At times while in labor I can't even remember conversations. So I was happy to have the relief. Everyone is different. Follow your heart and don't let anything stop you from choosing. Good luck!

I had horrible back pain during my pregnancy so bad I couldn't walk some days but I got the epidural and after I was fine. My daughter is 2 months and my back feels great. Back pain isn't caused by the epidural it's caused by the pregnancy.
