Whose last name should my child take?

I am 19 and pregnant with my first baby. My boyfriend (the baby's father) and I have been on and off dating for about 4 years now. We had all these plans to get married and have a life together, but broke up in November before I got pregnant. We obviously got back together, but the plans of marriage aren't as big. I love him to death and one day I do hope to be with him, but I just want to make sure it will work out between us and we won't break up again. So, if we did ever get married it would be a while from now. 
My question is with all that being said, whose last name should our baby take? Does it matter if we aren't married now? I want our baby to take his because we are planning to raise this baby together obviously and honestly I like his last name better than mine...but I know my parents would be furious. I really don't know what's appropriate. Thanks!

If you are not married I would not give the child his last name. I would at very least hyphenate

My children will have the same last name as me.

What if you gave the child your name then once married you changed your names together? I think that could be a really special moment for later on and may help avoid any trouble beforehand should things not workout, etc.

I'm married but didn't take his last name. When my son gets here he'll have a hyphenated last name.

I named my kids after there father but I regret it now I should have gave them my name due to me and there father was not married

If he wants to be a father and be apart of the baby's life then I say his last name, but if he doesn't then definitely yours.

If you have the child have his last name and you guys break up and he went to court for custody he has a greater chance of getting it. I would say hyphenating it because of the courts and any possible trouble. If it helps I told my boyfriend that our baby won't have just his last name if we aren't married. I'm also 19

I would give the father's name unless he is showing no interest in raising the baby, which doesn't seem like the case here. If he's an involved father, even if your relationship doesn't work out, then that's what I would do, personally.

I'm using my baby's father's last name as a second middle name, with my last name. That way if things ever change (which I doubt) my son will still have his father's last name somewhere.
