LH surge day of missed period?

Alright so! I am very confused. I had positive opks about 16 days ago and felt my usual ovulation pain and spotting. Now fast forward to yesterday when I took an hpt in the afternoon and it came up negative. I feel like there is a little start to something, but I know I'm just reaching. Today I was cleaning up my bathroom and decided to pee on an opk for fun and it came up a strong positive! I know you can get a positive opk before missed period; has anyone had any experience with that? I have none of my usual symptoms of AF so I'm confused.
