ballon burst
I was so ecstatic to write this until I received a note from my docor.
From the beginning:
About two months ago I mentioned I was torn about going with my planned IVF or waiting until my now boyfriend (friends for over 5 yrs) and I talked about our future together. Well, I decided I'd wait. I didn't push the conversation on him and he already knew about my TTC and already going through to IUIs (in fact he was there for the last one). So I was so excited when he said he wanted a future with me and would love it if I accepted him as the child's father (actually he wants to get married but that's a whole other topic). He says no matter if it's our DNA, my DNA, or adoption, he'd be right there. Oh how I love him so.
Well, we tried naturally this month and are awaiting. Meanwhile, I contacted my doctor to discuss my next steps, either continue to try naturally (with or w/o Clomid) or plan for IVF. Well she replied with the statistics that at my age 44, the chance is 2%. I already knew that as she shared that 'fact' with me at the beginning of the year. But the. She proceeds to say, if she were my sister that she would advise me not to waste money or emotions going through this process. I was appalled! Sharing the facts is all that's needed, not personal opinions. I let a few hours go by, talked to my boyfriend and we agreed, but what if I am part of that 2%. If I am financially prepared for this (of which I am and have great insurance), am healthy (workout 5d/wk), and and emotionally stable (I know the odds) then why not try. And that's my thing, I'd hate to be at 50 and regret not at least trying. My goal is for 1-2 rounds of IVF if not successful then adoption. I'm perfectly fine with that (and my company contributes heavily towards adoption as well).
Well, I have an appointment to chat with the doctor next week. More to come.
