worried...?

I'm worried that I may not be able to breastfeed once my baby comes. I'm only 16, and I'm afraid I won't be able to feed them properly... Help? Is there anything I could do?

just know that breastfeeding is hard in the first 1-2 weeks but IT GETS BETTER. i'm 17, so we are close in age. the first couple weeks are just kinda painful because your body isn't used to feeding another human like that and your nipples aren't used to the suction. but don't give up! if you push through it, it becomes the best thing ever!!!! it's amazing bonding, saves money, super good for your baby, and way easier than making bottles! just watch your babies weight and diapers, as long as those look good, your baby is getting enough milk. trust your body because it knows exactly what and how much your baby needs! i  going on 4 months of breastfeeding now :) and also make sure to eat and drink enough! it will make you feel great and ensure that your body has what it needs to make milk!

I read a great deal about breastfeeding prior to my first. I did attend a short class too. My lactation consultant in the hospital was not very helpful compared to the ones from another local hospital that held the class, but we luckily didn't have latching issues at the beginning. My issue ended up being a delay in milk supply. My daughter was a little early delivered via c-section. My milk didn't come in for a week so I tried to nurse and supplement to combat her weight loss. Oddly enough that was about the only breastfeeding issue my book didn't cover! Research what you can and prepare for some demanding weeks at first. Have ice packs and nipple balm on hand!
