who throws a baby shower for you?

I know this may sound odd but who throws a baby shower if you're pregnant? Is it your mom/sister or anyone in the family? Or do you throw it yourself?

I don't really know the customary way to do it but then again to each their own. Thank you!

Me, my mom and my god-mother are planning mine as it's my first child and their first grandchild. 
I actually posted a status on Facebook saying "trying to get things planned for my baby shower, please let me know if you want/able to come so I  can get invitations." 
Well within five minutes of posting I got 3 Facebook messages from friends attacking me saying "I better not be throwing my own baby shower because it's not proper etiquette and if that's the case then they will throw me one."
I was completely blind sided by that as I didn't think it was a big issue to throw one for yourself? 
I told them that I was in on the planning because I'm a control freak but I'm not planning it by myself.

I threw my own baby shower. 
My mum just helped out where she could or where sje wanted too. I hate giving people control on planning stuff for me haha.

Usually someone offers to throw one, but you can throw your own or ask someone if they'd help you plan one.

I mean - my sister is doing mine. But she offered. Basically whoever offers to do it, does it lol. Some people throw their own shower as well

My dad planed my baby shower... It was suppose to be a surprise but I knew about it .... I guess it all depends on the people in your family if they want to throw you a surprise baby shower or you can do your own baby shower

Usually not someone closely related to you, but in 2017 your own mom can do it or you can even throw your own. There aren't many "rules" anymore, which is nice so you can do it how you'd like.
