Acrylic or natural nails?

So my graduation party is coming up and I want to get my nails done. I've always kind of wanted acrylic nails but am worried about damaging my natural nails and the up keep. Suggestions?

Keep your real nails...acrylic and gel manicures really damage the real nail and it takes a long time for them to return to how they once were..because essentially your entire nail has to grow out and repair itself..I had acrylics on for 6 months with no breaks...I didn't know that you're supposed to take breaks and when I finally took all my nails off I had a fucking fungal infection in my thumb nail (disgusting and the fault of the salon) and my nails were so thin that it hurt a lot for anything to touch them. I would probably get acrylics for a really special day..like my fuckin wedding or something but that's it. I wouldn't want them again despite how nice they look..

Acrylics are rough on your nails but once they're off, your nails heal pretty quickly! If you have nails like mine (terrible and jagged) I'd go with acrylics. If you have nails that grow in nicely, then go natural!

If you don't want to damage your nails you could get ones that you just glue onto your nail yourself. I know they make some pretty cute ones that don't look like glue ons.

I wear arcrylic nails, I prefer natural, because my nails are so thin that they rarely last long; & I can't stand short nails. I hear people always saying that arcrylic/gel nails are damaging to your nails. Yet they fail to mention that your nails grow out, & the new growth is in fact healthy.

I don't know to each their own.
