how do I know when to try gas drops?

How do I know when I should try gas drops for my son? He is 6 weeks old and the last two or three nights have been a nightmare. He does not want to sleep, and when he does he's up again in 3 hours or less and he is just super squirmy even swaddled. He sometimes has trouble burping and sometimes he won't burp at all, but his bowel movements seem to be fine. Should I try gas drops? I read that some moms saw a huge difference after trying it out, but I don't want to give him something if he might not need it. Thanks ladies!

Do you breastfeed or bottlefeed? Eitherway, try burping halfway through a feeding and at the end as well to expel any swallowed air. To relieve some gassy bubbles your baby has, try doing bicycle legs and manually fart your little one. If baby is still fussy and has gas you should try gas drops. We tried everything mentioned above and @ 4 weeks finally bought Mylicon drops (simethicone) which have helped my girl! She is also on Gerber soothe probiotic drops to promote good gut bacteria and the combo has really helped her!
