Short Term Disability Question
Long post but I need some clearification on this.
During my pregnancy at 30 weeks and 32 weeks I went into false labor but they stopped it both times. The HR department for the company I work for then decided I was a liability to the company and did not want me to return to work. I spoke with my Dr who cleared me to work but had a "recommendation" that I only work 8 hours a day and take a 10 minute break to sit down every 2-3 hours. Which I sit down during half the time I'm at work anyways! Unfortunately with this company you are unable to work for them and have a restriction. My manager spoke with HR to keep me on which they agreed to before coming up with any and every excuse to not schedule me. When I spoke with my Dr again he was pretty upset with the way the HR was treating me and decided to put me on bed rest due to the false labor as well as some medical complications that were found during my visit. When I returned to work to give notice that I would be on bed rest until delivery I was informed I should apply for short term disability. I did and was denied until my Dr wrote a letter to the department. My last day of work was February 24th and I've been on short term disability since. I had my son on April 21 and they extended the disability for 6 weeks. Around the beginning of April I received a call from the HR department letting me know that they had filled my position while I was on leave. They then told me they would help me find a position at another clinic once I was able to return work but if they aren't able to find anything for me I'm basically out of a job and since I live to far from the other clinics HR isn't wanting to send me to either of those even if a position is available.
My question is, if I decide to quit and stay home with my son will I have to pay back the short term disability that I received ?
