Post-Paragard insertion symptoms?

Question

I got my Paragard IUD in yesterday, and I was wondering what symptoms you ladies experienced after the fact, and how long they lasted. So far I've had extreme bleeding and pretty bad cramps 😕

Expect to have painful cramping for a few periods, it gets much better though. I also get spotting about a week before my actual period. Pretty much always at exactly the same time every month. Your periods might be heavier for awhile as well-this evens out too. Just give your body time to adjust

I guess I'm the lucky one because I got mine inserted 3 months after having my son. I didn't feel it at all putting it in, but had the teeniest tiny cramps ever. I had spotting for a few days then that was it. I'm breastfeeding so I haven't gotten a post partum period. Until April 15th I had a 4 day period with no cramps. I have weird discharge but other than that I have no complaints with the IUD! I love it! Also it's normal for your strings to curl so if you can't feel them or your partner can't feel them don't panic. If you have any questions feel free to  ask 💙

Up until my first period with it, I experienced random cramping and bloating throughout the day almost every day. When the period came, I had almost no cramping and a it wasn't very heavy at all. I had spotting two days before and after, making it feel a bitter longer, but overall it was a breeze as periods go for me. I had just switched from the pill and was expecting the first period to be awful (like they were before the pill), but it was a pleasant surprise. Haha. That said, everyone is different and you may have a different experience.

My actual insertion went well but my first year of periods was HELL. I stored my Vicodin from getting my wisdom teeth out to use for cramps. Flow so heavy I was very anemic.

And it was worth it. I stuck it out and everything went pretty much back to normal. I LOVE never ever having to think about birth control or worrying it won't work. Paragard is so effective the nurses at my obgyn clinic don't even bother to ask me if I might be pregnant. The pain is worth it.

I too had mine placed yesterday. I was in severe pain for the insertion which is not normal and typically only happens to 5% of women. My friends were surprised because I'm the one known as the tough one. The first one to say suck it up. I screamed profanities that I'm sure the nurse didn't even know existed. Today, I am doing much better. I never had a bad problem with periods to start. I'm having some cramps and occasionally feel uncomfortable but overall normal. My flow is normal, I'm usually fairly light anyway. Yesterday I was taking a lot of midol and prescription muscle relaxers. I was not able to go into work. I hope your experience goes well!
