Can you refuse check ups down there when you're pregnant?

I honestly just want a yes or no answer. I don't want comments telling me I need to have them ect. I know the reason for them, but I don't want any check ups till the end of my pregnancy. If you don't agree with that, I'm sorry, but it's my body.

DO NOT DO THIS. They check you for the sake of the baby. There's certain bacteria in your vagina that you can have if they don't find before you give birth your baby can come out with serious problems. I had group b strep and the things that can do to a baby without the antibiotics every 3 hours through iv can make it blind or paralyzed etc 
Read up on things before you make a choice you might regret.

The only one you NEED to have is the group B strep, if it's positive you need antibiotics during delivery sonyour baby doesn't get sick. You do not need tone checked for dilation or effacement until in actual labor and can refuse those checks prior to actual labor.

You have the right to refuse any and all medical care as long as you aren't deemed "incapacitated" (typically you have to be legally deemed incapacitated and granted a fiduciary or conservator), so don't worry too much about that.

"Routine Vaginal exams" during prenatal care is not an evidence-based practice and while intermittent (or minimal) monitoring of dilation and effacement during labor will allow a health professional to gauge how labor is progressing, over-examination has been shown to increase unnecessary interventions and increase the risk of peripartum infection.

"Multiple vaginal examinations are recognized contributors to infectious
morbidities, especially in the presence of other risk factors for infection (e.g.,
prolonged rupture of membranes and long duration of labour)."

They don't even test for group b strep here in New Zealand so I can't imagine it's that bad or we would have a lot of babies with problems.

You can refuse dialation checks, yes. There is really no medical need for them until you are in labor. You need the group B test though, for your baby's safety. It's not that bad, you'll barely feel it 😊

I've never had internals until labour. I declined a membrane sweep at 3cm in labour on Sunday. It may have helped things progress quicker but I've always found cervical checks quite painful.

You should definitely do the group b strep test, which is just a swab in and around the vagina. But cervical checks are not really necessary. Even if they check and say, you are effaced x% etc, it doesn't really mean anything about when you'll go into labor. So it's super uncomfortable and doesn't really give useful information. I plan to decline mine.
