Baby Boy name Deacon?

We are big nickname people, so we'd most likely use Deek as a shortened version at times.
I realize the religious affiliations with the name and quote honestly it has been a selling feature for us. We are Christian and the connection to the church was something we liked about it. But I'd read it could be perceived as offensive? I guess to me it isn't, and that's with my dad having been a deacon growing up.
