We don't have the greatest of relationships and she was already upset with me for not allowing her to be here the first week our son was born. My husband and I wanted time and space to bond with our first born alone as she is staying with us.

Her visit is for a 8 days and we're only half way through. 😑 She doesn't understand that our boy is only 4 weeks old and there's limitations. The first morning she came into my room when she heard him waking up and demanded we get dressed and go out. I had to explain that we can't just get up and go. We need to plan outings and first thing in the morning was not a good time for me. As you all know, waking up every couple hours to be awake for 1-1.5 feeding & changing, just to repeat is hard. Plus being sleep deprived for weeks.

My mother is having a horrible time, heard her even say on the phone the visit hasn't been great. She anticipated this visit to be more like a vacation I think. And we're more cooped up in the house. I breastfeed and it's very time consuming and only allows for minimum play time until he goes back down again for a nap. She just started helping with diapers yesterday, which is not a big deal but it doesn't seem like she wants to help at all. I've been making dinner every night and doing all the cleaning. And I just don't know what to do with her or how to make her visit more enjoyable. In her visit we've gone to the grocery store, Target, and a walk with the baby. I plan on doing another walk tomorrow in the late morning early afternoon.

I don't know if I should just say fuck it and who cares. She should of known this is how her visit was going to go. I thought she was going to be more help with house work, cooking, and baby but she's not. Plus I haven't even been taking my afternoon nap so I might just be more irritable than usual. Any tips? Or things you've done with your newborn that were manageable.
