IUD removal

Stupid question I am sure and quite possibly I can ask my doctor tomorrow but..

I have to have my IUD removed surgically tomorrow morning. As far as my log will I need to start it over as a period day since they are removing the uterin lining to get the IUD out? I know that was completely confusing but hopefully someone can give me some insight.
