Why me

Question

I feel so sad😔. I went to the doctors today to get my progesterone labs back and instead found out my Pap smear was abnormal. And she said it can be because I've been exposed  to hpv. I've only been with my husband and no one else. Now I have to wait a year to get another Pap and see if anything has changed. 
I've never had any symptoms of warts or herpes. I feel so confused. It's all my husbands fault for being with all those other women. Now I have to pay for it too😞. I need some advice, has anyone else had that happen?

If it's abnormal, they should be checking it again sooner than a year. I had an abnormal one in college, went back and it came back fine. Sometimes abnormal ones happen for no real reason!

HPV is super common! About three years ago I had an abnormal papsmear due to some HPV cells. I hadn't been with anyone but my husband (we were dating then but he is a loyal honest man). I've had the Guardasil vaccine as well. They had me come back every 6 months for a papsmear and after a few abnormals it cleared up and isn't abnormal anymore! Now I'm 27 weeks pregnant and baby is healthy! :)

I'm concerned that they are waiting a year.  It can cone back abnormal because of precancerous cells,  which is what mine was.

Sometimes they can come back abnormal during different parts of your cycle or the way they do the scraping or smear. 
I'd be pushing to have another one done in 3-6 months. Aim to have it done in the middle of your cycle.

I had an abnormal pap due to HPV when I was 21(am now almost 30). They had me come back every 6 months for the next two paps and then I came back clear, my body got rid of the HPV on its own. HPV is really common and almost every sexually active adult will have it at some point in their life. There are more dangerous strains than others that lead to cancer and warts(I never had warts, but I did have abnormal cells).

You can Google it and read what the CDC says about it, but your husband probably had no idea he even had it it does nothing to guys most of the time. Supposedly eating leafy greens or taking folic acid can help your body fight it(what my gyno suggested when I had it) but it doesn't always go away. You're probably passing it back and forth to each other so you might want to use condoms until it goes away if you're wanting to get rid of it(I wasn't married, and just out of a relationship so I just stayed abstinent while I had it).

HPV clears on it owns. If it doesnt then you might need a cryotherapy. Abnormal pap doesnt  neccesarily mean you have HPV, it could  e something else like a  bacterial Vaginosis or else. Sometimes HPV is not cause or transmitted sexually.

If you are concern about having HPV because your man has been with other women, then you should get tested for other STD's as well.

If your husband is jumping around with other woman still, maybe God has a plan for you to not have a baby yet until he put his man pants on!

Take care of your self first. Forget about a baby now. Make surw you are healthy and ready for a baby in every single aspect. Good luck

Well I have HPV (vaginal warts) and honestly it's not the end of the world. The only time they caused me grief was during my pregnancy as my immune system was down so I flared up really bad but after having them frozen off I've had no problems. They sound disgusting but honestly it's not that bad, you can have HPV without ever having a flare up or something wierd happen down there. I get regular smear tests and nothing major has ever happened. I'm just lucky to have an amazing partner, we're not sure who had it first as we had both never had problems until after we got together but it is what it is. Good luck x

Dude your OBGYN didn't explain things very well. I'm 22 and I've had 2 abnormal Pap smears in my life. Guess what? That's normal. You can get false readings on those things all the time. If you're sure about your sexual history and your partner's sexual history, don't worry about it. I'm willing to bet there was some miscommunication bc doctors don't wait a year to test if they were really concerned.

Just wait and see last year my pap came back abnormal and this year is was completely normal. I know it crazy waiting that entire but just wait it out.
