Too far in age??

I've had 2 people tell me today that my husband and I are too far apart in age and that my parents should have never let us date. We started dating when I just turned 16 and he was 18. I am now 20 and he is 23. We are married now. We are 3 years apart in age. Do you think we shouldn't have dated or that we are too far apart in age?
