No Cervical Length Check?

Question

My doctors haven't checked my cervical length at all. I had an US at 10+4 (emergency abdominal, they didn't look at anything but baby) and am now 16 weeks exactly with my next appointment June 13th. I have no reason to believe I could have complications or need a cerclage but with this being my first pregnancy I wish I'd know for sure. From what I've seen online they're almost always done between 12-14 weeks? Have you ladies been checked or is it not as common as I believed?

If the doctor has any indication it's short they would tell you ... usually they don't say anything if it's long

I have IC( incomepetant cervix) and they are not checking my cervix until 16 weeks. With my first they didn't check it because there was no reason to. When I went in for my anatomy scan that's when we discovered my cervix was shortening and dilating.

I had a cerclage placed 2 weeks ago & im going for measurements every 2 weeks . Talk to your doctor about it . I got mine @ 16 weeks my cervix is measuring 5 & I'm still getting my measurements so I'd definitely talk to my doctor

I haven't had any checks done besides trying to listen to baby's heartbeat twice. First time couldn't find it at 10.5 weeks so they did an ultrasound really quick to check on the baby and it was moving around like crazy. Second time was last month and all they did was listen to the heartbeat and send me on my way. I have an appointment on Thursday so we'll see what they do then. I ha e another on on the 28th for an anatomy scan which puts me at 19.5 weeks. I wish they'd do it this week so I didn't have to pay for yet another visit this month.. But oh well.

I had a Leap procedure done 7 years ago and had cervix length checks done with my first pregnancy almost every visit. This time she's checking it at my 20 week appt and again at 28 weeks since I went full term. 
I don't think it's something that is super common unless you have something that would cause it to shorten.

If it's your first they may not monitor it. With my first they didn't and I went into sudden labor at 27 weeks (made it until 36) due to an incompetent cervix they said but with my second pregnancy they started tracking my cervix length at 11 weeks & will continue to look every 2 weeks. I have to start progesterone shots at 18 weeks & im on bedrest (I'm 14.5 now). They wanted to put a cerclage in with my first but told me I was too far. I just saw a preterm specialist last week and he said you can get one at any stage in your pregnancy depending on the dr. The cerclage is what we're trying to avoid ideally.

It isn't common to have cervical issues without symptoms, so they don't check everyone. Cervical checks during pregnancy slightly increase risk of infection so it's something that's avoided unless necessary or requested. Needing a cerclage is not common - it happens but I wouldn't call it common!

I had it checked at 16w and will again at 20w only bc I'm at risk for incompetent cervix. Idk if they would measure it otherwise.

I'm 17 weeks and haven't been checked and I'm in he hospital every week :/

So, my OB does check the length of the cervix every single ultrasound. Mine keeps coming up short with them. My Perinatologist, for unrelated concerns, told me that your cervix changes throughout the entire first trimester and you won't get an accurate measurement until 18 weeks. They WONT measure my cervix, even though my OB has told them that it was short at 8 and 12 weeks. I see the perinatologist monthly.
