no epidural? regrets?

Question

I always thought I'd get an epidural (I wouldn't say I have a particularly high pain tolerance) but lately I've been thinking about doing it natural. I know it's different for everyone and it's a personal choice, but I'm wondering if anyone did NOT get an epidural and regretted it--or if you just get through it and don't think about it after you see your baby 👶🏻

Women who have their children natural are amazing i definitely give any women who went natural props.  But my opinion is i would definitely sign up for the epidural just in case you might need. Its okay if you might need it the pain will definitely progress but just in case you can receive one. Im just saying if you dont sign up for it where im from ansand when you cant take the pain anymore and decide to get an epidural they wont give it to you. Its stupid

Two births here! First with epidural, second without because I wanted to try natural. By the time I begged for one it was too late. I regret not getting one! Lol. My birth the first time was so smooth and easy. Second time I thought I was going to die. 😂

I've had labors with an epidural & all natural. My recovery & birth was so much better when I went natural. Baby was more alert & breastfed easily. I felt great & it was awesome. I realize going natural is not for everyone, but for me the epidural wasn't great & I regret getting it. My advice would be to educate yourself more & if you'd really like to go without an epidural, look into Hypnobirthing, The Bradley Method, or read any of Ina May's childbirth books. Good luck!

I've had two epidural and plan a third in October. It made my labor so enjoyable both times and wore off so fast after baby was out and I was able to be up and taking care of babies.

This was my first baby and I got the epidural and I wish I didn't. I wish I looked into other forms of pain management, even just getting pain medicine in the IV. The epidural was too much for me. I freaked out not being able to feel or move my legs. I had them turn it down twice and didn't push the button until I started pushing. I wasn't a fan. I had to be induced so I got it because I was scared I would be in labor and pain for days.

I was ambivalent about epidural/no epidural, so I figured I'd just proceed without the epidural & get it if I felt I really needed it. I ended up getting it because I hit a point when I was 7cm dilated where my contractions were back to back to back without breaks & I couldn't control my body, but I probably should've gotten it slightly sooner because it was extremely hard to hold still to receive the epidural. So, not quite the scenario you were asking about, but I do think it's good to wait on the epidural as long as possible if you need it at all (that way you don't risk it stopping working as well), but do know your body enough to get it if you need to. :)
