baby seizures?!

My 7 month old baby was really sick with a virus this past week. She had a really high fever too and started having febrile seizures. We spent 3 days in the hospital doing all kinds of tests just to find out it was just a virus. Well she's been 5 days without a fever or seizure so far. But today she started doing this weird head shake randomly throughout the day. Almost like she's shaking her head "no" really fast. But it's random, there's no pattern to it. Between 715am this morning when she woke up and now (640pm) she has done it about 6 times. It only lasts maybe 2-3 seconds but it still worries me that it might be some sort of half seizure. Anyone else experience this? Or febrile seizures? Could this just be a side effect?

My son does this too and he also has a history of seizures (infantile spasms). At first when he did it, it freaked me out a little but now I see that he's just being silly. We see a neurologist and I mentioned it to his doctor and he didn't seem concerned. If he's smiling or babbling while he's doing it, it's most likely not a seizure. I would be worried if it's a blank look like he's gazing or you notice a pattern. Even still, I would call his pediatrician at the least and see what they think you should do. Good luck 😊

When he is tired... however, if your baby has been having seizures I would def be talking to the dr. My SO is epileptic and sometimes you won't even realize it's a seizure. Best to be safe. So sorry you're all going through this 💛

My daughter would do this thing when she was nursing where she would shake (almost like a seizure). After going to the doctor I was told it's just a spasm from being over stimulated while being tired. I did notice that the only time she did it was when she was tired and eating so it made since. Babies use it as a calming/self soothing technique. She does shake her head no now too

Spoke with pediatrician, they aren't too concerned because she does seem normal while it happens and it is literally 2-3 seconds. But just to be sure we have an app in august with neurologist.

Mine shakes her head like no when she is tired but fights a nap. They told me is q way for them to try and stay awake

We started these spasms 2ish weeks ago. No history of seizures but I've read they are pretty common but yea he does the no shake and sometimes his legs and arms are involoved but its most often when he's tired or frustrated. They have been decreasing this week and he seems to have learned a new skill so im confident that its just a little bump in the road.

With that history, go see a doctor right away. My son does that when he's happy or frustrated, but given the timing I wonder if it's a coincidence.
