Metformin an assisted fertility?

Is metformin considered a fertility treatment? Just wondering. Just started it today! Hoping for a period and a BFP within the next few months!

Yes! I found out I had PCOS (not diabetic or insulin resistant though) and I started taking it to improve my egg quality and help me ovulate (along with other fertility meds although metformin is all some women need) 
It's rough when you first start taking it (nausea, upset stomach, etc...) but I promise it does eventually get better. Just be sure you phase into your full dose. Start small and stay consistent. And he sure to take it with a big meal. Good luck!!

It's not exactly a "fertility" treatment. I too have PCOS. For women with PCOS it helps regulate the insulin unbalance that we have. You could get pregnant easier while on Metformine, because of the weight loss.

Of course everything is case by case because then You also have to take in consideration if you're even ovulating, or even producing good eggs.

I just started it as part of my fertility drug regimen 😊 I'm doing IVF but my doctor thinks insulin resistance may have caused my last miscarriage. I don't have PCOS but I'm borderline prediabetic. Good luck!! Hopefully we don't get the gross side effects 😝

Yes! I was diagnosed with PCOS when I was like 14/15 and was told by my OB that I probably wouldn't be able to get pregnant without fertility medications and whatnot. A few years later when I was 19 I was really struggling with weight loss due to PCOS so I asked for Metformin which is used for women with PCOS to help lose weight and all kinds of stuff. But the doctor failed to inform me that it's used for women with infertility! I got pregnant the first month on it which unfortunately ended in a miscarriage. This time around I started it and was pregnant the next month! I really do wish you all the luck in the world. Baby dust. <3
