Sleep Training??

Question

Basically I want to know what it is?

How it's done And when you do it.

My LO is almost 4months old and EBF.

Currently only sleeps 2 hrs tops. Goes to bed between 7-8pm. Then from 3am its a struggle to get him back in his cot. He'll only sleep on me after 3am.

Sleep training means you are teaching the baby to put themselves to sleep at the beginning of the nights and whenever they wake up in the middle of the night. Most babies are able to understand the concept of a routine and the training around 6 months. Also, room sharing will make sleep training harder (especially if you are breast feeding) because they can sense you (and smell the boob lol) so they wake up for that comfort and company. I went through it all and hit a wall around 8 months and decided we had to sleep train because I was exhausted and our son was so cranky. There are different methods to choose from but once you start you have to stick to it for it to work.

Basically it's all about a nightly routine & sticking to it. Basically putting the baby in the crib & letting him sleep there & building a routine as such so it continues to get them use to it.
