I use clear blue advanced ovulation test and I had the same questions as you last month. I just start getting my high ( blinking face yesterday ) so I know I'm ovulating within the next 2 days . But once you're getting closer that left line starts to pull color from the right line . So it wouldn't be so dark once you're getting closer

When you get close the test line will be almost as dark as the control line. When it is as dark as the control line is when you're at your peak

Line will be darker if you get a smiley face. When line is faint, it gives this solid circle because it's just not your peak day of ovulation yet. Keep testing.
