formula?

My daughter is 4 weeks exactly and I've been exclusively breast feeding her but I don't think my milk supply is enough for her, ever time she eats she's hungry again 15-20 minutes later, and she feeds for around 30 minutes. She gets fussy while eating too like she's not getting anything. My question is, do I have to consult with her doctor if I can give her formule or is it just whatever I say is best for her? This probably sounds dumb but I'm a first time mom and want to know others opinions about giving baby formula and still breast feed her as well. Thanks!

When my daughter was that age she was attached to my boobs and also cried often to feed again after just eating. I believe what you are explaining is normal. They say as long as she is gaining weight and peeing and pooping that you shouldn't worry

It sounds like cluster feeding.. which is normal but exhausting! Stay hydrated and rest when you can... and use lots of nipple cream.

If you haven't, go to a breastfeeding support group or lactation consultant. They often do weigh and feeds so you can see how much your baby is eating.

Finally... there is nothing wrong with supplementing with formula. We do one bottle of the green similac a day because I was not able to pump enough to keep up with him eating once I went back to work.

I wouldn't give formula.  What you're describing is completely normal. Mostly it's a comfort thing. If you give formula it's highly likely that your milk will diminish. As long as baby is gaining weight steadily and having plenty of wet nappies then all is well 💟

I do both I breastfeed and give formula my daughter is 2 months old adjusted age one week. She does fine with both.
Reason being is she was in the nicu for 27 days got used to the bottle then I introduced the breast and she's been doing good.
She also has to have at leat 2-3 bottles of formula a day because it it's fortified with a 22 calorie base for her weight gain.
I think introducing formula and bottle early is what helped me get my daughter comfortable with both

With breastfeeding comes cluster feeding. Just have to stick it out mommy 🙂 Get comfy in the recliner with snacks and Netflix! That's what i had to do for a few weeks. He'd wake up, pop him on, he'd finish and fall back asleep for another half, maybe an hour. Then back at it 🙂
