Should I Tell My Boss?

Question

I've been out of work for the last two days because of severe pain and bleeding after my miscarriage. I did not tell anyone at work I was pregnant and wondering if I should tell my female boss that I'm experiencing a miscarriage? She seemed pretty angry when I called out sick again today. Not sure what to do...

UPDATE:
I finally told my boss today and I'm glad I did. It turns out that she had a miscarriage herself just a month ago. Not only was she sympathetic but also empathetic. She totally understood what I am going through and felt bad about getting angry with about calling out sick. She also gave me her cell phone number and said that I can call her anytime if I needed to talk. It was really hard to tell her, but I am so glad I did!

I work in a school and told my principal when I found out I was going to have a miscarriage. She was so understanding and supportive. It took a huge load off my shoulders and helped me concentrate on healing.

I think u should tell her because i think she will appreciate the honesty and vulnerability. I think it will help u heal. As crazy as it is telling people and speaking about it helps. Also. U could get bereavement. My job gave me 24 hrs. So you may be entitled to even more time. Good luck

My dad spoke with my boss for me (he worked at the store I currently di for several years before transferring). As soon as I walked in the store, the few ladies who knew I was pregnant knew what had happened.  They sat and prayed with me while dad told the manager what happened, and that id need to take monday off for the cytotech. I got a lot of support at work.  Nearly every woman in my department has had at least one pregnancy loss,  and so did my manager.  She sat and cried with me, and gave me the entire week to help physically heal, instead of just the one day. They were also understanding the two days I called out the following week, because I was just so emotionally undstable I couldn't do anything but cry until I passed out.

I told my boss who is male and am so glad I did. He was so understanding and told me to take as much time as I needed. Even when I came back to work I was sad and quiet and just "out of it", so was especially glad he knew then, too and didn't question my mood or behavior.
