Should I talk to her?

One of my best friends jus broke up with her boyfriend and it didn't end well, and as I live in a small town, everybody heard about it. Today my boyfriend texted me telling me everything he heard and was saying pretty bad things about her; obviously I stood up for her and told him the truth but he doesn't believe me. Should I tell her everything that everyone is saying? 
I feel I shouldn't because I am still fighting for her and telling her that can make her even sadder or she will have even a bigger fight with that boy. I am pretty confused. What would you do?

If you live in a small town, won't she find out either way? Better to hear from a friend than someone talking shit

It's going to be better her hearing it from you. How's she going to feel when she finds out from someone else, and then finds out that you knew?
