Mirena iud while breastfeeding/milk supply affected?

Has anyone else gotten the mirena iud while breast feeding? I had mine placed at my pp appointment, and my baby is 6 weeks old. Everything was going well, but now his pooping has slowed down over the past 3 days. He pooped once (huge blow out) on friday, did not poop Saturday, and it is now 1:15 Sunday and still no poop. He has had plenty of wet diapers though. I started researching the mirena iud and read that it can affect milk supply. If that's the case I'll have it removed. Any advice ladies? 😊

After I had my own place in about three months postpartum my milk supply dropped incredibly and it got to the point I ended up having to switch to formula because it just wasn't salvageable. Nothing changed my diet my routine or anything it just dropped off. But it was right after I had my IUD placed. So it very well could be

His pooping doesn't mean your supply is going down, it means his system is regulating. As for Mirena, I had mine placed at 6 weeks and I breastfed for 2.5 years. It should have no effect on your supply.

Some breastfed babies stop pooping completely at around 6 weeks. It may last a few weeks too. My daughter's pediatrician told me not to worry when it happens.

I had the mirena placed at 8 weeks PP and we breastfed up to 16 months. With that said, obviously birth control affects every woman differently. I believe at that age, anything up to a week for bowel movements is okay for breastfed babies. I'm pregnant now and baby is a toddler so I honestly don't remember off the top of my head. ☺️
