How many patents let their babies watch TV?

Question

I'm curious to know how many people let their babies watch TV. Feel free to explain what age you think is okay for children to start watching TV and why.

I'm not going to turn the tv off when we settle in for the night bc I have a baby around. If he watches some of it I don't care he gets plenty of other stimulation throughout the day.

My one month old may see a bit of it, but not much. I plan to keep screens away from her until 2 if possible, but right now I need some Netflix to get through all the feeds, etc. she doesn't seem to see very far or comprehend/watch it yet. I also try to turn her away from the screen/switch activities for myself when she is active and awake and wants to be looking out at her world rather than into my chest.

My baby is 6 months old and the past couple months I've been letting her watch TV for limited amounts of time, like when I need half an hour to shower & get dressed or do laundry & dishes, cook & eat, etc. I try to put on something educational though like Baby Einstein, Little Baby Bum Nursery Rhymes, Word Party, Barney, Sesame Street. She loves anything that has ABC's & music & singing! We've talked to a couple pediatricians about this and they say TV isn't harmful for babies, but it's not exactly beneficial either. They're neutral about it so it's up to you. Personally, I don't want her watching too much, especially as she grows up, because I'm afraid it will limit her development in other areas. I think time spent playing, interacting with people and reading would be better. My parents basically let TV be my babysitter all the time and that wasn't good. However I did learn the alphabet, numbers, shapes and colors very early on! So as with everything, there's pros and cons. Now when she was a newborn and couldn't see very far, I definitely had the TV on a lot. I was recovering from a c section, nursing and pumping so what else can you do  while sitting on the couch or in bed all day! I don't think she noticed it until she was about 3 or 4 months.

I tend to put youtube on the TV with classical music, there's videos for babies with lights and patterns in time to the music, he also likes music with jellyfish and butterflies. My 11 week old just chills in his rocker and drifts off to sleep watching when I'm doing bits and pieces. After school is a whole different story because his big brother takes over and he's subjected to pokemon, max steele ect.  A bit of TV isn't going to do any harm, I just prefer the youtube videos because children's TV drives me bonkers :)  xx

My daughter watches baby first tv which is all educational but she only gets to watch it for a few minutes while I change laundry or go to the bathroom

My 9 month old can see the TV when it's on during dinner, we always "watch" an episode of a sitcom, but it's like once a week he'll actually pay attention to it for a minute, he's too into his food to bother. And last month he stayed up unexpectedly late a couple nights and watched some WWE with me for 2 minutes before he squirmed away to play with his toys. I'm not against my kid watching TV but so far he's easily entertained by his toys so I'll use that as long as I can.

My son is almost 9 months. He loves trolls. I've been using it as a tool for almost 6 months now. It gives me a second to get things done... like peeing.. or dishes... or picking up after him... or getting ready for work.

I'll have pbs Disney or nick jr on in the morning but if it's not the intro to show or a catchy tune on he doesn't really have any interest in watching. He'd rather play around the room with his toys, in the kitchen with the one cabinet that is baby friendly (only has bread pans in it) or his new thing is finding the on/off button for tv as it makes noise each time and he thinks it's cute. Lol

When my son is sick we watch Disney movies (he's 11 months old), but honestly he's not interested in the TV most of the time. We were over at a friend's house and her son was just in love with the cartoons on the tv, but my son was more interested in all the toys he didn't have at home.
