can getting water in infants ear cause ear infection?

While washing my 4 week old sons hair today, I noticed a little water sitting in his ear... now I'm worried water may have gotten in his ear, could this cause an ear infection? Feeling really guilty for not being more careful.

For a lot of kids it drains and there are no problems. Just keep an eye on it and if you notice discomfort have the ped check.

I'm sure he's fine I wash my sons hair and clean his ears . Idk it's not like I'm extra careful not to get water in his ears. Im sure he'll be fine☹️

It could. I'm not sure if this is okay for infants, but when I was on a swim team I'd get swimmers ear all the time. You can put a drop or two of hydrogen peroxide in your ear and it'll evaporate the water. Again, I'm not sure if this is recommended for infants so if definitely ask a doc for, but I don't see why it'd be a problem.

It can. My son still gets ear infections if he gets water in his ears and he's 4. His ear infections started around 4 weeks old.
