Suggestions on decorating a rented apartment?

We won't be able to paint the walls, and I don't think we can put nails in the wall to hang things either, and I'm a little sad but I understand that we are renting so it's not entirely our home.

But I have a 2 year old daughter and I was excited to have her pictures hung up, or paint her room pink, and now that I can't I'm lost on how to decorate without damaging anything. This will be my first real home on my own and I would really appreciate any help!!!
