Suggestions on decorating a rented apartment?

We won't be able to paint the walls, and I don't think we can put nails in the wall to hang things either, and I'm a little sad but I understand that we are renting so it's not entirely our home. 
But I have a 2 year old daughter and I was excited to have her pictures hung up, or paint her room pink, and now that I can't I'm lost on how to decorate without damaging anything.  This will be my first real home on my own and I would really appreciate any help!!!

You can get rental wallpapers. :) I've seen them at target or like lowes and Home Depot. They can be stuck up like regular wallpaper, but can be removed and reused at any time.

I'd ask about the nails because my friends live in an apartment and they were able to hang stuff up with nails. But if not command strips, and for decorating her room you can get wall stickers. They stay up pretty good and come off without doing any damage. I have them in my sons room.
