A Dogs Purpose
I am not usually one to take to social media about issues and opinions, but something has come up. Last night my husky, Chance, suddenly cried out in pain. I went to check it out and he seemed very lethargic and not himself. So I sat down, talked to him, and comforted him. He continued to let out random cries and he clearly wasn't his normal self. It scared me so badly, I called my mom in tears and woke her up. I even stayed up all night with him, so I could be there for him when he cried out in pain again. I was so afraid for him and couldn't bare the thought of loosing him (he's almost 10 years old). It makes me wonder why people are so quick to "rehome" and/or abandon their dogs. I understand surrendering your dogs because of financial issues. I even understand things not working out with new pets. However, I don't understand why you can't take your dog with you when you move? I don't understand why "suddenly" things don't work out with your elderly dog? And what I really don't understand is just leaving your dog behind to fend for themselves. Our dogs and other pets are our family. Just like my 10 month old daughter, I am never going to abandon them. If you can't handle getting a pet, DON'T DO IT! It's not a trend and it's not a toy, it's hard work and responsibility. Most of all, it's unconditional love. By the way I took my Husky to the vet today and he perked right up. Apparently it was just arthritis in his back hip. He's back to his normal self and playing.
