Found out my boyfriend still talks to his baby mama?

We're a new couple and when I hang out with him I see him talking to his baby mama like a lot, the past 3 times I've seen him I saw her name on his phone. I never read their conversation because he's never next to me when he texts her back. I asked him about it and he told me they talk about their daughter. I don't really trust him yet so I'm not sure if it's true or not but I think it's disrespectful to be talking to her in front of me. I get it it's the mother of his child but I think he should not talk to her constantly when he's around me. I don't know him that well but I think I know him well enough to think that he doesn't really care about his daughter. He doesn't even pay child support.  I only see him for a few hours once a week on his day off from work. What should I do? I don't want to leave him for it, and I don't wanna seem bitchy for getting mad but I can't help it :(

First off, if you think he's a dead beat dad why would you ever want to be in a relationship with him?

Secondly, that is the mother of his child and she will be in his life for the next 18 years whether you like it or not.

Thirdly, the only person being disrespectful is you. You've barely been dating this guy a minute and your demanding he not speak to the mother of his child in front of you. You should probably just mind your business, and let him deal with his. That little girl should be more important to him than any other woman in the world for the rest of his life.

I talk to my son's father pretty much on a daily basis. We have both told our significant others that if they have a problem with it, they can leave. I think you just need to get over it. 
On a second note, why would you wanna be with someone who you believe doesn't even care about their child?

First of all do you really want to be with a man that you think doesn't care about his child? Second of all it is possible to talk to your child's other parent multiple times a week and have no romantic feelings whatsoever. I mean he might be shady but I talk to my son's father atleast once a week about our son.

I see that you are hoping for positive reinforcement or guidance from this "supportive group" and you aren't really getting any. I have dude friends with kids and it's actually good that he stays in contact with his baby mama but I do know that it doesn't seem so nice to hide it from you if it seems like he's hiding. He needs to be more open to an extent on his part as well. Putting himself if your shoes and you putting yourself in his shoes may help. If you truly see a future with you two then you need to come up with a gentle way to bring up the convo. But be careful, should he feel threatened, he may retaliate and defend himself if he feels that you're trying to say his child is less important than you!
