Kissing your children (on the mouth)

I was reading about this, that some people find it inappropriate to kiss their children on the mouth? So what is your opinion on kissing your children on the mouth? I am a stepmom, and yes I kiss my stepdaughters on the mouth, so does their dad (they are 8 and 11), I am not the one who kisses them, they kiss me. Nobody has had any issues with it, not even their biological mom.
