What is a mid wife? What's better?

Answer

My mother in law is a midwife and although this is my first child I knew right away that I wanted to go that route . They can work either out of a hospital or at a birthing center and my understanding is that most doctors treat labor as a traumatic experience to the body vs midwives theory of it being something that our bodies are meant to be able to handle . I decided to go to a birth center and right away knew it was the right choice . It was more personal , you don't have to worry about getting to know a nurse and then after her shift is over a new one comes on . They encourage you to eat what you can while in labor and as long as everything goes smoothly my midwife said I should be home within 4 hours of birth . Everyone has their own preference so I would do what makes you comfortable ! But I'm definitely more bias of the midwife route :)
