Period pain

I get REALLY bad period pains, to the point where I am literally rocking back and forth in bed squeezing my stomach because I can't bear the pain. The only way I could describe it is like (for people who have sadly suffered a miscarriage) it's that sort of pain EVERY MONTH. What can I do? Is there anything a doctor can do for this? It's seriously awful and I feel like crying right now!
