Do you feel that you had fairly realistic expectations for parenthood before you had kids?

I don’t think anyone can fully understand how it is being a parent until they are one. There are some aspects of parenting I never thought about and was taken by surprise even though I had babysat and worked with children since I was little. It’s just very different being fully responsible for another life.

I want expecting the emotional aspect that came with motherhood.

It's like a different version of yourself, but a good different - you know it's going to change you & be hard, but you don't know how & how hard!! It's great tho! X

I actually expected to be more tired and exhausted but I have had it pretty lucky with my baby’s sleep not being too terrible during The night. However I didn’t expect how little time I would have to keep up with housework and cooking meals with a baby that wants to be held during ALL day naps!

Yes. I wanted a baby more than anything and knew exactly what I was getting myself into when we decided we were ready for a baby. Wouldn’t trade being a mama for anything

I wasnt thinking about some little things like teething, or how to deal with colds, education fund money or that in long run I will choose regular public school or catholic.

I don’t think you can ever be prepared for it... you never get a break and these little beings are your full responsibility (obviously but you don’t know the extent of it until you become a parent) our son has been diagnosed with autism and worrying about him and what’s best for him. Trying to enjoy every happy moment even tho we are major sleep deprived. I can’t sleep because worrying about him and we have a newborn. They are worth it but man, takes a toll on you too

I have 5 nieces and have always been around kids and babies and was even there to help my sister when she had her daughter. I thought id have a harder time with all the fear post about EVERYTHING. She sleeps great. Shes the most calm happy baby. All babies have moments but everything has just flowed. As for myself i didnt expect PPD and the challenges of how id feel in my own body but parenting has been great and I honestly didnt expect it to be as easy as it was to slide into.

I didn't know how bad hormones would get after the birth. They bypassed my anti psychotic meds. Luckily my birth control I changed to keeps the mood swings at bay.
