Bible Study Thursday (06/08/2017)
To God be the glory forever more. Hello ladies. I pray that the Lord is moving in each of our lives daily. And that he filling us with more knowledge of his words. In Jesus name I pray these things.
Today I will be talking about what I have come to understand in the Book of Romans. Ladies please feel free to share text from what you've been studying and just a word that you may have. But in the book of Romans. Now I always wondered in what ways do my pastor mean we are free from the law but it certain things we still have to do to be Holy. So, This book of Romans has truly helped me. Because explained starting in chapter 4 to break down some things for me. Abraham in the bible did not have the law but, he was still counted righteous to God.
Cometh this blessedness then upon the circumcision only, or upon the uncircumcision also? for we say that faith was reckoned to Abraham for righteousness. How was it then reckoned? when he was in circumcision, or in uncircumcision? Not in circumcision, but in uncircumcision. And he received the sign of circumcision, a seal of the righteousness of the faith which he had yet being uncircumcised: that he might be the father of all them that believe, though they be not circumcised; that righteousness might be imputed unto them also:
Romans 4:9â€-‬11 KJV
Is this blessedness only for the circumcised, or also for the uncircumcised? We have been saying that Abraham’s faith was credited to him as righteousness. Under what circumstances was it credited? Was it after he was circumcised, or before? It was not after, but before! And he received circumcision as a sign, a seal of the righteousness that he had by faith while he was still uncircumcised. So then, he is the father of all who believe but have not been circumcised, in order that righteousness might be credited to them.
Romans 4:9â€-‬11 NIV
So, then Paul explained why Abraham was counted righteous to God. He believed what God said and he walked in faith believing without seeing the works that God promised. He didn't second guess God, he didn't try to come up with his own plan. He just waited for God to do what he said he would do.
Yet he did not waver through unbelief regarding the promise of God, but was strengthened in his faith and gave glory to God, being fully persuaded that God had power to do what he had promised. This is why “it was credited to him as righteousness.”
Romans 4:20â€-‬22 NIV
He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God; And being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also to perform. And therefore it was imputed to him for righteousness.
Romans 4:20â€-‬22 KJV
So, naturally the next question comes up. If we have faith, but is still a sinner can our faith alone justify us. The answer is No. Even demons know who Jesus is and have no doubt about his power. They know who our heavenly Father is and have no doubt about him. So being a sinner and have faith is not going to do much help unless you break free of that sin. When you break free of that sin and stay free of that sin and walk with the Lord and truly believe on the Lord then you become saved by the Lord our God.
Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord. Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof. Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God. For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace. What then? shall we sin, because we are not under the law, but under grace? God forbid. Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness? But God be thanked, that ye were the servants of sin, but ye have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered you. Being then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness.
Romans 6:11â€-‬18 KJV
In the same way, count yourselves dead to sin but alive to God in Christ Jesus. Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body so that you obey its evil desires. Do not offer any part of yourself to sin as an instrument of wickedness, but rather offer yourselves to God as those who have been brought from death to life; and offer every part of yourself to him as an instrument of righteousness. For sin shall no longer be your master, because you are not under the law, but under grace. What then? Shall we sin because we are not under the law but under grace? By no means! Don’t you know that when you offer yourselves to someone as obedient slaves, you are slaves of the one you obey—whether you are slaves to sin, which leads to death, or to obedience, which leads to righteousness? But thanks be to God that, though you used to be slaves to sin, you have come to obey from your heart the pattern of teaching that has now claimed your allegiance. You have been set free from sin and have become slaves to righteousness.
Romans 6:11â€-‬18 NIV
So, in all that I found that I am free of a law that was like bondange to us. I am adopted in to God grace and mercy than can and will deliver me from sin and keep me from sin. It does still require Holiness of me. Because when I accept God, when I accept Jesus and invite him inside me. I my body become a vessal, a church that God enters. And God is holy and in order for me to keep him inside of me I have to walk in holiness believing on him to direct me. To direct my steps. And I know that through prayers, fasting, reading his word and talking to God that the more I do this, the more I open myself up for God. The more of him I have means that Satan can't come near me because I then have the light of God, I have the breath of life in me. Darkness can't survive in light. Death can not survive where God is breathing at. Through faith I know and believe that God is covering me. The wages of all sin is dealth. But since I have Jesus I no longer worry about dealth.
Amen.
God bless you ladies I pray that you all have a wonderful day. I love you all.
