IUD advice?

So I got an IUD put in about a month or so ago. I'm aware that there are occurrences of people having ridiculously long periods with this form of birth control. I've now been on mine for 2 weeks. I just want some advice/ personal experiences on how long I should allow it to last before I go talk to my doctor.

Today marks two weeks of having my period. It might stop in a few days but I've been told by many people that's perfectly normal. Even my GYN/OB told me that I may experience spotting or a full on period for the next couple of months. But she also said that the period will stop after the 6 month or so.

I've had mine for almost a year and my periods just now stopped. When I first got it, I thought my period would never end. I believe my grand total was 2 months of spotting, and a long period every month until these past 2 months (~10 days, but that's how long it was pre-mirena as well) everyone's body is different, but yours is most likely still getting used to the new hormones. It's supposed to be in for 5 years, so just wait it out a while longer. If you're genuinely concerned, talk to your doctor about it :) good luck!!

Hi.  I'm on my 2nd mirena. I had the 1st one for almost 7 years, and won't lie, first 6 months were a little unpredictable, first 2 months were heavy and long... then it was pretty smooth sailing with occasional spotting until my daughter got her period about 2 years ago, and then when she did, I Did!  Still, nothing crazy, but very regular!  Last August she moved to her dad's, now it's back to basically nothing again, UNLESS she shows up hormonal or oone of her friends!  All together I've had a mirena in me for 11 years. I couldn't be more pleased. My daughter, who's 16, also has it now, because her  periods were so heavy and pills made her nausea for like days, and my sister has it!  We've all had positive experiences. So hang in there!  It's worth it and by far one of the best methods on the market right now as far as side effects etc.

I've had mirena now for 3 years, as much as it is amazing I hate mine. When I got it done I bled straight for 2 months not even joking. I still get 'periods' that last few weeks but I guess everyone's different I could be one of the unlucky ones
