Do you tip when ordering takeout?

Question

Say you're ordering food online for pickup.  
The last page of online ordering has an "add tip" option, with "no tip", 5%, 10%, 15% and "custom tip".
How much would you tip someone for literally just handing you your food? From my understanding, there is no obligation to tip when ordering takeout, but I know not tipping is frowned upon. I'm leaning toward 10%.

I don't tip if it's takeout and it isn't delivered. I don't really know anyone who does either.

I don't tip if I'm picking it up. If somehow they go above and beyond when I pick it up I may tip. But I sure don't tip in the online ordering process prior to knowing what kind of service I'm going to get when I get there.

I don't think you should tip for take-out 🤷🏻‍♀️ Perosnally, I think you should only tip when you have sit down meal and you are being waited on for an entire meal. Like you don't tip at fast food places soooo

I'll usually leave a small tip. I don't calculate off of percentages though for takeout. I usually just pick a dollar amount and go with it haha

I do, unless my order took a ridiculously inappropriate amount of time to arrive or the delivery person was an ass.

If it's carry out I don't tip. Unless it's 5 minutes to closing and I called and placed the order the one time I did that I left a 5 dollar tip because I felt bad when I realized it was closing time

I've been a waitress for four years and let me tell ya, when you're in a heavy dinner rush and suddenly someone calls wanting a take out, it does up your stress levels. It is one more thing you have to worry about on top of everything else. Yeah the cook makes the food and boxes it up but the server pauses from waiting on their tables so they can bag it up, make sure the order is correct, and put salads and bread in. They're also the ones that cash you out when you pick up your order.

A tip from take out is never expected, but always appreciated. Even if it's only a dollar or two.

Oh man I didn't tip the hostess when she brought me my take out at Red Bowl (she watched me sign the receipt) and she snatched the pen & receipt out of my hand so hard she scratched me and sarcastically said "have a GREAT night" and stormed off. So... I think they do require tips 🤷🏼‍♀️
